Work on The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor continues.  There should be a trailer available anytime.   Brendan Fraser and Jonathon Carnahan are reprising their roles but Rachel Weisz part is not involved in the project.  That concerned me a little at first.  Rachel did such a good job in that role.  Then I found out she was being replaced by Maria Bello who played Lil in Coyote Ugly.  Maria definitely is sassy enough to play the part.  We’ll have to see how she does with the accent.  The Dragon Emporer will be portrayed by none other than Jet Li.

Stephen Sommers wrote and directed The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.  He also wrote the prequel The Scorpion King which was directed by Chuck Russell.

This time Sommers is not involved in the project but there’s no need to worry.  Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious, Triple X, Stealth) is directing the film so there should be plenty of action for all us thrill junkies.  If he pulls off stunts that are anywhere close to those in his previous films I’ll be thrilled. 

Look for it in theatres in August of this year.
