Cast set for “Queen of the South”
Jonathon Jakubowicz’s film Queen of the South now has a cast.
Eva Mendes, Josh Hartnett and Ben Kingsley will star in the drug-trafficking drama based on the novel by Arturo Perez-Reverte. Hanna Wegg is the screenwriter. Both Jonathon and Hanna are relatively new to the business so we’ll have to see what they can make of this film. At least they have plenty of material to work with.
The story line in the book has Teresa Mendoza (Eva Mendes) starting out as the plaything of a drug runner. After he is killed she falls for another drug runner but is his partner and eventually starts her own smuggling empire.
Of course we all know that movies seldom follow the exact plot line of the book. Still this should be a good film. We’ll keep our ear to the ground and give you updates as we find them.
