In what 1982 cult favorite did Nicholas Cage make his acting debut?

The sequel to Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants will be released in August of this year.  Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn reprised their roles from the first film.    The girls are in college now and have gone their separate ways.  They try to stay in touch and share their lives as they journey toward adulthood.

If you’re wondering what else the girls have been up to then here’s some info for you.

• America Ferrera has been working on the Dreamworks Film How to Train Your Dragon with Gerard Butler.
• Blake Lively will be working on New York I Love You with Shia LeBeouf, Natalie Portman and maybe Scarlett Johansson, Christina Ricci, and Orlando Bloom.
• Alexis Bledel is working on The Letters with Margot Kidder.
• Amber Tamblyn is currently filming Beyond a Reasonable Doubt with Michael Douglas.

Ann Brashares wrote four of the Traveling Pants novels.  No word on whether the other two will be made into films.

But Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet didn’t garner the statues for Best Actor and Best Actress.

Nicholas Cage has signed with Disney to do a live action remake of the Disney animated classic The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.  His production company Saturn is partnering with Broken Roads Productions to make the film.  In a recent interview John Turteltaub (National Treasure, Cool Runnings) alluded that he would be directing this film as well.  Nicks co-star will be a CGI mouse.

Hopefully, Nick won’t wind up in jail over his problems with the IRS like fellow actor Wesley Snipes.  Nicholas filed a lawsuit in U.S. Tax court disputing taxes and penalties he’s being charged by the Internal Revenue Service.  Snipes was recently convicted of tax fraud and sentences to three years in jail after handing over 5 million to the government.  An appeal is in the works.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most famous line is “I’ll be back”  from the classic movie The Terminator.  He used this same line again just three years later in another movie.

The Hannah Montana movie will begin filming next week amidst the controversy sparked by the 15-year old Miley’s racy photo shoot for Vanity Fair.  Miley seems to be having more than her share of photo problems lately with her flashing that green bra at everyone.  And don’t forget the candy pics from last year.  Perhaps she should steer clear of cameras for awhile.

Evidently, Miley (and her grandma) fell for the “artistic photo” bit.  The photography was done by Anne Leibowitz who did the cover photo of a pregnant Demi Moore.  Much of her work has a sexual tone and we are talking Vanity Fair here.  Honestly, all you have to do is Google her.

Anyways, The Hannah Montana Movie will begin shooting soon.  It’s slated to be released on May 1st of 2009.  In addition to Miley and her dad the movie will include, Emily Osment, Jason Earles, Mitchel Musso, Margo Marindale, and Lucas Till.

Even though some of her fans are a little miffed at her now, I’m sure they’ll be standing in line for tickets next year.
